Rules for reserving system's group servers

Access to all machines belonging to the systems group requires reservation. If you are found working on the machine without a prior reservation your account will be suspended. Reservations are required to prevent interference with measurements.

Reservations are done via a google calendar. E-mail Ali Kamali aka70@cs.sfu.ca to get access to the calendar. If you do not have a Google account, you will need to create one

When reserving the machine, specify whether you need to use it in a exclusive or non-exclusive mode. Exclusive mode is usually needed when you are collecting performance-sensitive measurements. Non-exclusive mode is okay if you are compiling, installing or testing things. There can more than one non-exclusive reservation made for the same time. Exclusive reservations cannot overlap with other reservations.

Sign up for notifications!. To ensure that you do not accidentally interfere with someone's reservation, set the google calendar to send you e-mail notifications. This way you will always know when someone reserved the machine in an exclusive mode. To set up notifications, log in to your google account, go to "Calendars" --> "Manage calendars" --> "Notifications". Set default notifications (at the top of the page) to arrive before the start of the new event.
